Chauri Chaura Incident Centenary Celebrations, PM Releases Postage Stamps

Postage stamps released by PM on centenary celebration of Chauri Chaura incident.

To mark the beginning of the centenary celebrations of the Chauri Chaura incident on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a postage stamp via video conferencing. PM Modi also addressed the people at Chauri Chaura in Uttar Pradesh and said, “Incident of Chauri Chaura was not limited to a police station being set on fire. The message of the incident was huge. Due to various reasons, it was treated as a minor incident, but we should see it in context. The fire was just not in the station but in the hearts of the people.”

“It is unfortunate that the martyrs of the Chauri Chaura incident have not been discussed as much as they should have been. Although, they have not been given significance in pages of history but their blood is in the soil of this country and it keeps inspiring us,” he said further at his address.

On this occasion, the CM of UP Yogi Adityanath was also present and since this morning various events planned by the state government to mark the centenary celebration  have started in all 75 districts of the state.
