Chennai: Man slashes woman’s throat before attempting suicide

“Ajith carried a knife and planned to kill the woman if she refused to accept his marriage proposal” says police


On Sunday, a 26-year-old man Ajith slit his girlfriend’s throat and then attempted suicide by hanging at the woman’s house in Taramani. Both have been hospitalized. The Taramani police said that the doctors were able to save both of their lives.

 

Ajith who is from Minjur and the 22-year-old woman from Kanagam area in Taramani used to work together at a mobile phone retail showroom. Since her parents where against their relationship and arranged the woman’s marriage with another man. So, she distanced herself from Ajith which didn’t go down very well with him. He was very upset to find out that she was chatting with some other man.

 

On Sunday, Ajith went to the women’s house saying he wanted to talk things over. The two of them were in the room alone talking when the woman’s family heard a loud quarrel and barged in. To their shock, they found the woman lying in a pool of blood and Ajith was holding a knife over her. He then forced his way and locked himself in another room.

 

The woman was immediately rushed to the hospital and the police was informed. When the Taramani police rushed to the house and opened the door they found Ajith hanging in a bid to end his life. He too was then rushed to the hospital. The police said Ajith had carried a knife and planned on killing the woman if she refused his marriage proposal. A case of attempted murder had been registered.
