Police arrested seven accused from parts of Jashpur, one is still on the run

The police had arrested seven people from different parts of Jashpur and one accused is still on the run. Superintendent of police Abhishek Meena of Raigarh informed that the bodies have been recovered on August 1 in the Nadigaon village. The village comes under the direct limits of the Sariya police station.

Reflecting on the case, Meena said, “On August 1, we registered a case under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code and started the investigation. The bodies were identified as Sukru Yadav (40) and Manmati Yadav (45) of Maheshpur’s Bagbahar”.

The police had become suspicious of the family’s role in the incident during the investigation and subsequently the minor confessed of murdering his parents with the help of seven other people.

A police officer on the case said, “The minor told us that a month back his elder brother fell mentally ill, so he was taken to a tantric named Mohan Yadav of Satguru Ashram. Yadav told the minor that his brother was ill because their parents had done some witchcraft, and if they killed the parents the brother would recover. Yadav said that their financial condition will also improve”.

The minor hatched a full-blown plan for the execution of his parent's death with the help of his brother-in-law, Narsingh Yadav and his six cousins Raju Ram Yadav, Bhole Shankar Yadav, Shankar Yadav, Khageshwar Yadav, Ishwari Yadav and Dashrath Yadav.

The superintended on the case reported that “The accused called for the parents into the vehicle on the pretext of their son not being well and took them to Surajgarh Mahanadi bridge, it was there that they strangled them both to death”.
