China wanted to plunge India into darkness during Ladakh tensions, cyber-attack on the power grid

-China targeted India's power supply during tension in Ladakh. In October, Chinese hackers carried out 40500 cyber-attacks within five days. Indian power plants, supply lines, banks, and IT companies were targeted.

During the ongoing tension in Washington, Ladakh, China was seeking blackouts in India with the help of its hackers. The US media quoted a New York Times study as claiming that an army of Chinese hackers cyber-attacked India's power grid, IT companies, and banking sectors 40500 times in just five days in October. This study said that China had a hand in the blackout in Mumbai on October 12, four months after the Galvan Valley clash in June.

It was the result of the Campaign being run as part of a broader Chinese cyber campaign against India's power grid. China was trying to show that if an action was taken against it on the border, it would shut down India by attacking malware on different power grids. It is also mentioned in this study that in those days Chinese malware had penetrated the systems controlling power supply in India. Which also included high voltage transmission substations and thermal power plants.

A report by the US cybersecurity company Recorded Future claimed China's incursion into India's power supply line. This company studies internet usage with government agencies. The company was told that most of the Chinese malware was never activated. However, the recorded future could not reach inside India's power system, so it could not be investigated.

Chinese hackers infiltrate power grid and transmission line Stuart Solomon, Chief Operating Officer of Recorded Future, said that a firm named Red Echo of Chinese government hackers secretly infiltrated more than a dozen power generation and transmission lines in India Advance for cyber hacking techniques was used systematically. At the same time, the power supply was disrupted due to power grid failure in Mumbai. However, it could not be proved whether there was a cyber-attack or some other reason behind it.

On the morning of 12 October 2020, there was a sudden stir in Mumbai due to the sudden shutdown of the power supply. The never-ending Mumbai was suddenly halted. Ventilators had stopped functioning in hospitals in Mumbai facing Corona due to lightning. It was darkened due to the power loss in the offices. However, the power supply was switched on  again after 2 hours of effort.
