CM Arvind Kejriwal Visits Delhi Border Today

Delhi CM visits the Delhi borders today

Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal is one among the various opposition leaders who has extended his support for ‘Bharat Bandh’ called by the protesting farmers on December 9 against the three farm laws passed by the Central Government. Mr Kejriwal today reached Guru Teg Bahadur Memorial near the Singhu border which is the Delhi-Haryana border to survey the arrangements made for the protesting farmers who have been camping there as the protest enters 12th day today. CM Kejriwal is also the first leader of the state to visit the protest site.

The Delhi Traffic Police issued a cautionary note regarding the multiple borders between Delhi and its neighboring states remaining closed for traffic to the commuters taking those routes.

The farmers mostly from the State of Punjab and Haryana have gathered for protesting both at the Singhu and the Tikri border. The Ghazipur border saw a rise in the number of protesting farmers when more farmers joined them from the state of Uttar Pradesh.

As the sixth round of talks between the farmers and the central government is scheduled on December 9,  farmers continue to protest against the farm laws and demand for a complete roll back of these laws.

The new farm laws suggest doing away with middlemen and letting the farmers sell their produce anywhere in the country. The protesting farmers feel that this law will hinder the system of traditional mandis, the guaranteed MSP’s given by the government and hence, introduction of these laws will leave them at the mercy of the corporate.
