Coins from India's 75 years of Independence adorn this Durga Puja pandal in Kolkata

The theme of Babu Bagan Sarbojanin is showcasing 'Maa Tujhe Salaam'


Well fascinating Kolkata never lacks behind in the name of Durga Puja, the city comes over the priority with its uniqueness and pretty outlook of pandals. 


A pandal has been decorated with coins, signifying 75 years of independence celebrations in the Babubagan theme. The Durga statue is slated to be housed in Alipore Jail Museum.


As per the information, the entire mandap has been decorated with coins. Just as there are 10 rupee coins, there exist 2 paise and 20 paise coins from ages ago. This time, the theme of Babubagan Sarbojanin is 'Ma Tujhe Salaam', amid the spirit of 'Azadi Ka Amrita Mohotsav'. The theme of Babubagan has the touch of 75 years of independence too.


Further the information stated, the mandap has been decorated with coins issued after independence. Some genuine and other fake coins have been used. As the images of various national heroes are present on the coins, the goddess Durga has also been given a form of the coins. Also, 75 years of economic progress in the country has been depicted through these coins.


According to the statement given by, Puja committee member Sujata Gupta said it took more than two months to build this mandap at a cost of around Rs 30 lakh. Metal has been used in addition to ordinary clay and bamboo for decoration.
