Congress candidate dies of Covid-19 at Kolkata hospital

Rezaul Haque was a candidate of Congress from the Samserganj Assembly constituency in Bengal's Murshidabad district.


Congress candidate Rezaul Haque died on Thursday morning at a Kolkata hospital. Mr Haque had tested positive for Covid-19 and was undergoing treatment for it, the health department sources said. Mr Haque was a candidate of Congress from the Samserganj Assembly constituency in Bengal's Murshidabad district.

On Wednesday, Mr Haque had been admitted to a local private hospital but later at night as his condition worsened, he was referred to a medical facility in Kolkata. The sources said he died at around 5 am on Thursday. Samserganj Assembly constituency of West Bengal goes to polls in the seventh phase on April 26.
