Congress victorious in Civic body polls in Punjab


On February 14 the seven municipal corporations in Punjab have undergone elections and the Congress party has won all seven municipal corporations, claimed the President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) Sunil Jhakar on Wednesday at a press conference.

Jhakar said “We want to congratulate all the members of Punjab Government, Congress workers are behind this win and all the people of Punjab from different sectors justified with their votes that who is good for Punjab. Those who see the old days of Punjab knew about Captain Amrinder Singh’s leadership. They voted for us”, he added that the people of Punjab know to exercise their rights in a democratic manner.

Jhakar further stated “We have given a reply to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and opposition parties with peace. BJP’s high command ignores people’s feelings. We will work hard in the future and I would like to launch the campaign 2022.” He claimed that the People of Punjab have selected Congress in seven out of seven municipal corporations in the state. However due to re-polling the results of Mohali corporations is awaited. Out of 109 municipal councils results for 104 councils have been declared and out of it people have selected us in 98 councils. Jhakar concluded by saying “People have given a strong reply to the political parties who ignored the problems of the people and tried to defame Punjab.”
