“Congress is in dying stages,” says Navjot Singh Sidhu

He has been in constant conflicts with his own colleagues including Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.

Cricketer turned politician Punjab President Navjot Singh Sidhu publicly resigned from his post. He has been in constant conflicts with his own colleagues including Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. He has often publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with his own party regarding the state government’s profanity and drug cases contradicting the promises made before 2017 elections.

His statements triggered a disruption within the party to which he later clarified that his loyalties lie with the Congress and that he would continue to work with them although his statements have been embarrassing. As per sources, the party is disappointed in him with his decision of public resignation and the party is looking for possible candidates. The Congress’ Punjab in-charge shut down all the speculations saying Navjot “is the Punjab Congress Chief” commenting that the Chief Minister and Punjab Congress Chief will work together leaving aside their differences.

Mr Sidhu skipped Mr Channi’s son’s wedding and was heard criticizing his party at a protest over the killing of the farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh. Congress may as well accept his PCC resignation.
