Congress wins Rajasthan local polls.


The State Election Commission on Sunday announced the results of the 1775 ward councilor post in 50 urban local bodies(ULBs). The official of the commission declared that the ruling Congress in Rajasthan won 620 seats whereas the BJP bagged 548 seats and independent candidates secured 595 seats out of the total availability.

The polling booths that were set up for the elections were 2622 in numbers and total of 14.32 lakh voters were eligible to vote for this election and 7249 candidates were fielded. Spokesperson of the election commission said that the state of Rajasthan has ULBs spread across 12 districts in the state. Seven candidates of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), two candidates of both the CPI and the CPI (M) and one candidate from the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) won in the ULBs polls.

On December 14 a notification is to be issued for the election of the Chairman of the ULBs and the voting for the post of Chairman and  Vice Chairman will be conducted on December 20 and December 21 respectively.
