Mumbai: On Wednesday, 16 November 2022, a police inspector committed suicide by hanging himself at the police training centre in Maharashtra's Dhule district, an official said.

The dead has been identified as Praveen Vishwanath Kadam. He purportedly left a note before the incident on Tuesday in which he mentioned that no one should be held responsible for this extreme step taken by him, he said.

A convocation function has been organised at the police training centre on November 21. Mr Kadam had taken part in its preparation on Tuesday afternoon, the official said.

He was posted at the police training centre in Dhule in 2019 after he came from Pune.

When some of his colleagues found the door of his room locked on Tuesday evening, they knocked at it continuously. As there was no response from inside, they peeped through a window and found him hanging, the official said.

They immediately informed inspector Nitin Deshmukh at the city police station. Police team then immediately rushed to the spot.

They found a note in the room, purportedly written by Mr. Kadam, in which he mentioned that no one should be blamed for his death, the official said.

His family members, who are living in Nashik, have been informed about the incident, the police said.

An accidental death report has been registered in this matter, they added.
