Covid 19 fails to turn down Diwali Festivities, Crowds burst in markets.

Diwali shoppers amidst Covid threat

The festive season is back and has truly given us break from our hectic schedules and monotonous lifestyle due to the pandemic, which has engulfed the world in its shackles. Although the threat isn't over yet and has instead climbed the graph in some cities of India like Delhi NCR due to the alarming and hazardous pollution and unjustified negligence by the citizens. Wandering around with unmasked faces and violation of COVID 19 guidelines are some of the irresponsible characteristics leading to unusual spike in daily cases after successful control achieved in last month.

Markets have received enormous flow of crowds with a large chunk of the shoppers not even adhering to safety precautions important to protect themselves, neither by the customers nor by the shopkeepers. This Thursday the advent of Dhanteras has witnessed an uncontrollable head count in Jewellery Shops, popular street markets and shopping complexes with the ongoing hustle bustle rupturing the ideals of social distancing and face cover. While standing at a juncture where a tiny inadvertent mistake from our side could give a tremendous filip to another wave  of COVID 19 cases, furthering burdening unprepared hospitals hence taking us back to where it all stated while wasting the efforts of the government and citizens alike.

A Delhi Sweet Shop Owner, Ramesh Babu expressed his elation on the inflow of customers saying, "This week has been the busiest week since the last 5 months and compensated all the losses incurred during lockdown. It is difficult to conduct social distancing norms but easy to make profits." People are prioritizing festivities and entertainment over health and well-being. No threat could dominate their deep driven shenanigans. The markets which had completely lost all the splendour and grandeur amid lockdown, had regained the charm on the count of  economic welfare. Overpowering all the restraints stopping them, people are crossing the thresholds of their homes to explore the festive vibes like there's no tomorrow to live or sustain. An urgent need to regulate crowds and bridging the gap between necessity and aspirations is required to satiate people's expectations for yearly festival season and combat structure laid down for our safety. The need of the hour is to enjoy festivities with family and lover ones but at the same time keeping yourself cautious of the ongoing infections and following Covid protocols.
