Delhi's situation deteriorating amid rise in Covid-19 cases.
Covid-19 cases are coming up exponentially in the Capital. Delhi on Wednesday recorded the biggest jump in Covid-19 cases with 17,282 new cases and 100 deaths.The rise in Infection is creating shortage in the Health infrastructure.
According to a senior doctor from AIIMS, he said that there are no ICU beds available in most big hospitals, both private or public. There is no sign of the outbreak ebbing either, he told The Times of India.
Due to the rise in Covid-19 cases, Health Minister Satyendar Jain said that the high infection in the capital has prompted CM Arvind Kejriwal to call a meeting with Lt. Governor Anil Baijal today to discuss the Covid-19 situation in the capital. He also said that there is "no slowdown" in cases.
Talking about the availability of beds in the capital, AIIMS trauma centre is running full. Meanwhile, Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital is running out of ventilator beds. Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, VIMHANS, Holy Family, Batra and Manipal have no ventilator beds available with them.
According to a statement given by a doctor, he said, "People aren't getting beds in the hospital. That's why even those with moderate to severe symptoms are being managed at home through tele and video consultation. There should be some mechanism to avail the necessary medication for such patients."
Talking about crematoriums which are full-fledged, the number of crematoriums at Delhi's Nigam Bodh Ghat has gone up from 15 per day to over 30 as Covid-19 related deaths in the capital are on the rise.
Meanwhile, the Covid-19 situation is pathetic as there is a long queue of people to burn dead bodies and no ventilator beds are available even in private hospitals. All ICU beds are also reserved.
Covid-19 cases are on the rise, whereas for the first time CBSE has cancelled the board exam for class 10 exams and for 12 it has been postponed.
