The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced the first list of candidates for the Gujarat Assembly elections, which are scheduled to be held in December this year.

Rivaba Jadeja, the wife of Ravindra Jadeja, gets a BJP ticket from Jamnagar North for the Gujarat Assembly elections.

Rivaba Jadeja, born on September 5, 1990, did Mechanical Engineering at the Atmiya Institute of Technology and Science in Gujarat's Rajkot. She joined the BJP in 2019. Rivaba and Ravindra Jadeja tied the knot on April 17, 2016.

Rivaba and Ravinsrasinh have been known for their charity work. Last year, they had made news for opening Sukanya Samriddhi bank accounts for 101 baby girls on the occasion of their daughter’s 5th birthday.

Their efforts at creating awareness and helping the girl children become financially independent were praised by PM Modi. He had written a letter to Rivaba, praising her and her husband for their charity work.

The list, consisting of 100 names, was announced by Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav.

As per the information, Former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and senior party leader Bhupendrasinh Chudasama have said they will not contest the elections.

Gujarat, a state where the BJP is seeking a sixth term, will go to the polls in two phases on December 1 and 5, and the counting will take place on December 8.
