Cross-Border Love: Pakistani Woman's Arrival in India

Set to Marry Kolkata Man...

In a cross-border love tale, a Pakistani woman, Javeria Khanum from Karachi, crossed into India at the Wagah-Attari International border on Tuesday. She has been issued a 45-day visa to marry her fiance based in Kolkata.

Javeria Khanum, preparing to wed her fiancé Sameer Khan in January next year, was warmly received by him and his family at the Attari border, accompanied by the lively beats of 'dhol'.

Addressing the media, Khanum revealed that the Covid-19 pandemic had delayed their plans for approximately five years, with her visa being rejected twice before, as reported by PTI. She expressed happiness about being granted a 45-day visa, stating, "I am very happy to be here. Just on arrival, I am already getting so much love here. In the first week of January, the marriage will be solemnized."

"It's a happy ending and a happy beginning. Everyone back home was very happy. I can't believe I have got the visa after five years," she expressed, as quoted by PTI.

Khan expressed his desire to marry Khanum after glimpsing her photo on his mother's phone.

"In May 2018, I came home from studying in Germany. Seeing her photo on my mother's phone, I expressed my interest and told my mother that I want to marry Javeria," he recounted.

In recent times, numerous cross-border marriages and couples have gained attention. The trend initiated with Seema Haider, a Pakistani national, crossing the Indian border via Nepal to marry Sachin Meena from Noida, sparking debates. In July, an Indian woman named Anju went to Pakistan to marry her Facebook friend Nasrullah and has since returned to India via the Wagah border.
