Cyclone Jawad: Depression to intensify into a cyclonic storm during the next 12 hours

It will reach the North AP-Odisha by tomorrow (Saturday)


 

On Friday, the India meteorological department (IMD) informed that the deep depression over West-central adjoining the southeast Bay of Bengal will intensify into a cyclonic storm during the next 12 hours and it will reach Noth Andhra Pradesh Odisha by Saturday.


 

As per the tweet, the India meteorological department (IMD) said, "Depression intensified into a deep depression over West-central adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal at 0530IST of 3rd December 2021. To intensify into a cyclonic storm during next 12 hours and reach north Andhra Pradesh Odisha by tomorrow morning." Said the IMD.


 

With the Arrival of cycle Jawad, Odisha Government is preparing the state and has issued guidelines to prevent adverse effects of cyclone Jawad.  As per the information it has deployed around 266 teams including NDRF, state fire services, and Odisha disaster rapid action force(ODRAF) in coastal districts in view of the impending cyclonic situation.


 

All fishing activities are prohibited in view of cyclone Jawad. According to the ARD department, it says, "Given the impending cyclonic storm 'JAWAD' as a measure of abundant caution there is a need to restrict fishing activities along the entire coast of Odisha and chilika lake from 3rd December 2021 till 5th December 2021."


All the security personnel have been deployed in the alerted areas of the state.  Also, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains with strong winds in many districts of the Bay of Bengal. Ships and planes have been used to warn about the weather. Also, people who are living in low-lying areas have been removed and shifted to a safer zone.
