The 22-yrs old Dalit woman allegedly raped on gunpoint by two men in Kanpur District


Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh: Rape cases during COVID-19 have increased to its heights in India. Moreover, after the Hathras incident in UP happened. Rape victims are mostly Dalit women. Recent a week ago, in Kanpur Dehat District, a Dalit Woman was alleged raped at gunpoint by two men including a former village head said the police personnel.

A month before this incident a Dalit woman was allegedly raped by four upper-caste men in a village of Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. After the death of the victim, that case was turned into a political issue which included a quarrel between the UP Govt. and the oppositions. Mainly political leaders raised questions and voices against the Yogi Raj.

After the Hathras case, many cases of rapes has been filed. Almost 7:10 women are Dalit. According to a survey, Uttar Pradesh is the topmost states in which crime against women takes place.

According to the Police Officials of Kapur Dehat District Keshav Kumar Choudhary said, "The incident took place a week back, but the police were informed about the alleged gang rape on Sunday."

As per the complaint filed by the victim's parents, the accused duo barged into their house when the 22-year-old woman was alone and raped her one by one at gunpoint. They then left after threatening her of dire consequences if she dared to speak about the incident to anyone.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of IPC and the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 in the matter, SP Choudhary said.
