Terming the law and order situation in the state to “Jungle Raj”.....


Rajasthan: A 30-year-old woman was raped and set on fire by a man in her village, Barmer district. Police said on Saturday.

 

The woman mother of four children came from Dalit community, died on Friday. The accused bas been arrested, according to the police the incident took place on Thursday afternoon.

 

Police said victim's relatives took her to a local private hospital, from where she was referred to Jodhpur hospital, given the high degree of burn injury. "During her treatment at a hospital she died. Her statement was recorded by the investigation officer before her death," SP Anand said.

 

In the FIR, the victim's husband stated that his wife had told him about Khan who entered their home around 1pm and raped her. When she screams, a woman from her neighborhood rushed in and tried to stop accused, he pushed her away and also had thinner pouring on the victim, the FIR stated.

 

Victim's husband and the family is seeking compensation, "strict punishment for the accused and government jobs for their children”.

 

Under IPC section 450 the FIR has been registered, 376 (1) (rape) and 326A (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by use of acid, etc) along with relevant Sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. After the victim’s death, Section 302 (murder) of IPC was added to the case, police said.

 

Ashok Gehlot Congress government in the state over the incident, along with other leaders in the Assembly, Rajendra Rathore, terming the law and order situation in the state akin to “jungle raj”, on Saturday.
