DDMA to take a decision today on the Chhath celebration in Delhi

Chhath festival will begin from November 8, 2021


On Wednesday,  the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) will hold a meeting to discuss the Covid-19 situation in the capital city and take further decisions related to upcoming chhath festival celebrations in the city.


Knowing about chhath, which is one of the major festivals celebrated with great joy in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and nearby states. This festival is devoted to lord sun.


 

As per the previous decisions, the celebrations of the Chhath festival at riverbanks, water bodies and other places are prohibited in the city. After which Manoj Tiwari, (BJP ) requested to reconsider the decision. He said to the Delhi Government that many people celebrate this festival and should not ban the celebration in the capital city. Chhath is the major festival celebrated by those living near east Uttar Pradesh and Bihar (purvanchali community). Also, many purvanchali communities reside in the National capital.


 

On Tuesday, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has also launched a special campaign to inoculate Covid-19 jabs to the devotees who will observe fast during the chhath festival in Ibrahimpur village in North East Delhi’s burari area. Also, the Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal has requested and written a letter to Anil Baijal, Lieutenant Governor to permit Chhath Celebration in the National Capital 


Meanwhile,  the Covid-19 cases are fluctuating in the capital city. The cases on Tuesday were less as compared to Wednesday's 41 fresh Covid-19 cases.  For which the decision will be taken because of the Covid scenario.
