Delhi Aggregators Scheme: Ola, Uber Can't Charge More than Base Fare

Delhi Govt. issues a Draft of Motor Vehicle Aggregators Scheme

On Monday, the Delhi Government issued a draft of the Motor Vehicle Aggregators Scheme. In its scheme, it mentions that cab services like Ola, Uber, and any other app-based cab services in the National capital can't charge more than the double fare of the base price in the city during peak hours.

According to Delhi's Department of Transport, the cab aggregators in the capital will not be permitted to charge fares with the maximum rise pricing not surpassing twice the base fare.

The cab aggregators will have to assure the registration of all the onboarded driver-partners and their vehicles currently in use. The driver's license of all the driver-partners will be necessary, but the licenses granted will be useful for only a year. The license will be restored by the Transport Department on the aggregator's application.

The scheme also focused on passenger safety, stipulating that an around-the-clock functioning control room will be mandatory to have the real-time area of cabs and swift action in complaints.

It said panic buttons will be mandatory and drivers having less than 3.5 ratings must be imparted training by the aggregators. The scheme will be applicable for aggregators with at least 50 motor vehicles in their fleet.

It was very obvious to see that the cab drivers in the capital city used to charge a high fare for the rides. The prices charged were also double and triple than their wishing price.

The Delhi Government brings up a good scheme under which safety, as well as price limitations, will be placed. Also, the fares will be charged as per the base fare in the National capital city Delhi.
