Delhi authority gives a nod for Ramleela and Durga puja celebrations

DDMA said that Delhi police and the district authorities will ensure proper seating arrangement at events by adhering to social distancing norms.


With the upcoming festivals, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Wednesday issued guidelines permitting Ramleela and Durga Puja celebrations in the national capital with strict Covid-19 norms.

According to PTI, this decision was taken in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. The conference was chaired by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal.

As per the guidelines, DDMA said that the Delhi police and the district authorities will ensure proper seating arrangement at events by adhering to social distancing norms. Along with that they will have to make sure that entry and exit gates are separate and also ensure that there is no overcrowding at the location. 

As per the information it said, "They will make sure that gatherings during the festive season are strictly in compliance to standard operating procedures. They will assure that no fairs and stalls are allowed and if the SOPs are not followed, then action will be taken against the organisers of the events."

Meanwhile, the upcoming festival Durga Puja will start in October and Diwali falls on November 4.
