Delhi CM Kejriwal flags off 97 electric buses…

Aims to add 1,800 more buses by 2023!


On Wednesday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal flagged off 97 hi-tech electric buses from the Rajghat bus depot, taking the number of such vehicles to 250.

 

As per the information, The CM also announced that 1,800 more e-buses are likely to ply on Delhi's roads by November 2023.Nearly 80 per cent of the city's entire bus fleet will be completely electric by 2025, he said.

 

Explaining about the future plan of electric buses in the national capital, Kejriwal said, "We are adding 97 more electric buses to Delhi’s bus fleet today. As of date, there are 153 buses plying on the roads. This takes the total to 250 from today. 50 more electric buses will join the fleet in September. By September 30, there will be 300 buses on the roads. Old buses are now being replaced by new and modern electric buses loaded with all features possible."

 

Delhi’s bus fleet will cross the 10,000 mark. And we will boast an 80 percent electric bus fleet. 55 bus depots are in the line to get electric charging stations. Three depots are already electrified while 17 more will be electrified by June 2023 and all 55 by December 2023.

 

DTC is already operating 153 low-floor electric buses in its fleet and today’s induction will take the number of total electric buses to 250. Further 50 more electric buses will be inducted by September 2022, taking the total number of electric buses to 300.

 

DTC has also awarded a contract for 1,500 low floor zero emission electric buses that will be inducted into its transportation fleet by November 2023 which will take the total number of electric buses under its fleet to 1,800, the highest among all Indian states. Furthermore, 6380 additional electric buses will be procured by the government by 2025.
