Delhi CM urges PM " to Share Vaccine Formula"

Delhi CM Gives suggestions on Covid management to Centre

On Tuesday, Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal urged the Centre government to share COVID-19 vaccine formula. The CM also suggested allowing more companies to manufacture and distribute doses,  which is an acute shortage.

India has two vaccines namely Covishield and Covaxin manufactured by the Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech respectively and both are struggling to raise output. A third - Russia's vaccine which is Sputnik-V has been cleared and verified but not yet rolled out for the people. This will be produced by five companies.

CM Kejriwal gave these suggestions to Prime Minister led Narendra Modi; if more firms were allowed to make the vaccines then supply could be increased soon. Mr Kejriwal noted that.

"Only two companies are producing vaccines. They produce only six to seven crore a month. This way, it will take over two years to vaccinate everyone... many waves will have come by then. It is important to increase vaccine production and frame a national plan," He also added in his statement that "several companies should be deployed to produce vaccines. Centre should collect the formula from these two and give it to the others so they can produce vaccines safely".
