Delhi court to hear Aaftab’s bail plea on December 22

New Delhi: People in the National Capital woke up to a cold Saturday morning as the minimum temperature in the city settled at six degrees Celsius, two notches below the season's normal range.

The relative humidity at 8:30 am was 91 per cent, according to the meteorological department.

Delhi's air quality was recorded in the 'poor' category as the air quality index stood at 290 at 9:10 am.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.

The weatherman predicted mainly clear skies for the entire day with the maximum temperature likely to settle around 25 degrees Celsius.

On Friday, Delhi's air quality was recorded in the 'poor' category as the minimum temperature settled at 6.2 degrees Celsius, the lowest of the season.

According to the India Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature settled one notch above the season's average at 24.5 degrees Celsius.

The relative humidity oscillated between 91 and 39 degrees Celsius, it said. The weather office has predicted mainly clear skies on Saturday with mist in the morning.

Both the maximum and minimum temperature are likely to be around 24 and 5 degrees Celsius respectively. The Delhi court will hear Aaftab Ameen Poonawala’s bail plea case on December 22. Aaftab, through video conferencing, asked the court to meet his lawyer.

Aaftab's bail application was filed by advocate Avinash. He is scheduled to meet his lawyer on Monday. Poonawala was presented before the court through video conferencing.

Poonawala, the main accused in the Shraddha Walkar murder case, moved Delhi's Saket court on Friday, seeking bail. Poonawala was presented before the court through video conferencing.

The court on December 9 extended Poonawala’s judicial custody for 14 days. He is currently in judicial custody till December 23, and is lodged in Delhi’s Tihar jail.

Poonawala allegedly strangled Walkar aged 27 and sawed Shraddha's body into 35 pieces, which he kept in a 300-litre fridge for almost three weeks at his residence in South Delhi's Mehrauli before dumping those across the city over several days past midnight. Walkar was allegedly killed in May.

They both met on a dating app in 2019 and then moved in together to Delhi after staying in Mumbai and their hometown, Vasai.

Aaftab and Shraddha fought over household expenses, infidelity and other issues and their relationship was strained, police added.

Shraddha's father's DNA matched with bones recovered from Mehrauli forest.

The DNA of Shraddha Walkar's father has matched with the dismembered bones, which were retrieved from South Delhi's Mehrauli forest area, Central Forensic Science Laboratory report has confirmed.

Police have also received a detailed report of Aaftab's polygraph and narco test. The police had recovered 13 bone pieces from the area while searching for Shraddha’s body parts.
