Delhi: Drug kingpin falls to death

Rai, the accused ran a drugs syndicate along with UAE- based associate Kailash Rajput who ordered drugs transported from Mumbai to UAE


On November 9, an alleged drug Kingpin who has been identified as David Hari alias Alex died while fleeing from his Mumbai home during a raid by a joint police team of Delhi and Mumbai. The deceased had a reward of Rs one lakh on him. ASI Satish Patil from the southwestern range of Special Cell went to Mumbai following a tip off about Rai’s whereabouts. For Rai has been an absconding accused in the case of seizure of 4.8 kg of drugs such as Ice, etc in 2017 and the court declared him as a proclaimed offender since.

 

On November 9, Patil made an official diary entry at Bangur Nagar police station in Malad West district of Mumbai said the Delhi cops. After that, police and the local beat staff reached the society of the accused. In a desperate attempt to escape, the accused tried to climb down his apartment using a rope. Unfortunately, he slipped and fell to his death. On hitting the ground, he suffered some severe injuries. Although he was later taken to Shatabdi Hospital, Kandiwali by the local police, he succumbed to the injuries.

 

“Inquest (accidental death) proceedings are being conducted by the local police. SI Somil Sharma who is the investigating officer of the case, has been sent to Mumbai as well,” said a senior officer.

 

In 2017, the police had intercepted several communications between Rai and UAE- based associate named Kailash Rajput and blew their lid off the syndicate. Rajput ordered drugs to be transported from Mumbai to UAE through New Delhi and Rai was facilitating the transportation. The cops first arrested Avdhesh Kumar with drugs who further led them to other members of the syndicate.
