Delhi: DTC buses witnesses spike in ridership.the total earning of the DTC through tickets also increased from rupees 1.01 crore to rupees 1.58 crore.


On Monday the daily bus ridership of Delhi Transport Corporations (DTC) was around 36% as compared to a week ago when only 50% sitting capacity was allowed in the buses. The jump in ridership after the latest Covid-19 relaxation was much more than that of the Delhi Metro which registered an increase in ridership of only about 9.3 % according to the data.

According to data,on Monday (July 19) its fleet of 3,760 buses carried 11,02,513 passengers during the period buses were allowed with only 50% seating capacity meanwhile on Monday (26 July) when the restrictions were lifted, the ridership increased to 15,22,444. Similarly, the total earning of the DTC through tickets also increased from rupees 1.01 crore to rupees 1.58 crore on the days mentioned; this means that the amount last week was around rupees 3450 with an increase of 4,611.

According to the statement Deputy Chief General Manager (Public Relations) DTC, said, "compared to the pre-pandemic day, the average daily basis ridership even after relaxation is less by around 1.6 million till March 2020. For example, the DTC used to carry around 3.62 million passengers every day."
