Preparation begins ahead of winter season!


Ahead of the arrival of winter season, the capital city surges with incessant levels of pollution in the Delhi and the NCR region. 

 

The city witnesses a choked environment.Taking a concern over this hazardous issue Environment minister seeks meeting with central government to discuss winter action plan.

 

Delhi environment minister Gopal Rai on Friday shot a letter to Union minister for environment Bhupendra Yadav urging him to hold a meeting with regard to the problem of air pollution that plagues Delhi every winter.

 

Giving information about the letter, Gopal Rai said, “The problem of pollution increases a lot in Delhi during winter. There are many reasons contributing to pollution during winter such as stubble burning, bursting of crackers, vehicle pollution, dust pollution, among a host of other factors. Keeping all these factors in mind, the Delhi government will prepare a Winter Action Plan based on 15 focus points..."

 

Additionally, the environment department will formulate the Winter Action Plan, for which each department was assigned distinct tasks based on the 15 focus points and told to submit a preliminary report by September 7.

 

He added, “...without a coordinated effort, the winter pollution issue in Delhi is challenging to resolve. We want the Central government to work with the Delhi government... to successfully carry out this year's Winter Action Plan... we have asked for time to hold a meeting with the Central government so that we can present all our points related to the Winter Action Plan. We would like the Central government to cooperate with us, so that we can make a meaningful action plan and implement it to save Delhi from the danger of possible pollution in the coming winter season.”
