Government plans to open 500 shops by September 1


National capital faces a liquor shortage. The government is planning to open shops by September 1. Despite the extension of the Delhi excise policy 2021-22 by two months, the national capital is reeling through a liquor shortage due to massive buying by the customers, as well as vendors refusing to place bulk orders ahead of their shops closing down.



As per the information, many areas of the national capital face a shortage of liquor. These areas include Safdarjung Enclave, Punjabi Bagh, Greater Kailash, Andrews Ganj, CR Park, Kamla Nagar, Model Town, Rajendra Nagar, Sarita Vihar, Preet Vihar, and Chandni Chowk.



From next month, all the shops in Delhi will be run only by government agencies.



Further the information stated, There is a plan to open 500 shops in Delhi so that there is no shortage of liquor in any area, which will be increased to about 700 shops by December.



The city was divided into 32 zones for the implementation of the new excise policy by the Delhi government.



However, 17 zonal licences have been surrendered out of the 32 zones, as per IANS news.
