Delhi: Fire breaks out at AIIMS emergency ward, no casualty reported

A minor fire broke out around 5 am at AIIMS Delhi Hospital on Monday.


A minor fire broke out in the emergency ward of All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Monday morning. According to Delhi Fire Department, a distress call was reported around 5.15 am from the casualty area of the hospital, following which seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Soon the blaze was brought under control and no casualty was reported in the incident, said the officials. As per Atul Kumar Thakur, DCP South Delhi, sparking and smoke was observed in a dummy room of the hospital near the casualty area. He added that all the patients from the vicinity were evacuated and rescued from the affected areas, reported The Tribune. The fire also spread to the education room area of the premier institute and the cause of it is yet unknown, according to NDTV. Earlier, a fire broke out on the ninth floor of AIIMS Delhi on June 17 that had spread to the diagnostic laboratories and examination sections of the hospital.
