Delhi: Fire breaks out on ninth floor of AIIMS hospital, no casualties reported

The fire was brought under control at around midnight and no casualties were reported, the officials said.


A fire broke out at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospital late Wednesday night. The officials said that at least 26 fire tenders were rushed to the spot after the fire control room received the call about the fire at 10.25 pm. The fire broke out in the convergence block on the ninth floor of the building, the officials said. Classes are held in the convergence block and it also houses laboratories. Reportedly, the patients are admitted in a different area of the hospital. The fire was brought under control at around midnight and no casualties were reported, the officials said. The deputy chief fire officer Sunil Choudhary said the area where the fire occurred was being used for Covid-19 sampling, reported Hindustan Times. The accident occurred two days before the OPD was ready to function in a phased manner.
