Delhi government begins admissions for 20 Schools of Specialised Excellence

The last date of the online application process is till August 19 as mentioned on the website. The entrance test will be conducted between August 23 to 29 at 20 schools.


The admission applications of Schools of Specialized Excellence (SOSEs) which have been started by the Delhi government, will open from today. SOSEs will focus on students studying in classes 9 to 12 who have a special aptitude and interest in specific domains of study including Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Humanities, Performing and Visual Arts, and High-end 21st Century Skills.

According to the document shared by the department, a total of 1920 seats will be offered at 20 STEM schools, 600 at Humanities schools, 600 at High-end 21st Century Skills schools, and 240 at Performing and Visual Arts schools in this session.

The entrance test will be conducted between August 23 to 29 at 20 schools or schools near them which come under the new Delhi Board of School Education and will be offering International Baccalaureate programs.

Meanwhile, in the circular of the education department, the syllabus is divided into two parts. All SOSEs have a common foundational level comprising languages, basic maths, basic science, personality, perspective, citizenship, Social Science, and so on while the second part is the advanced level according to the school’s specialization.

Any student from the recognized schools of Delhi can take admission in Schools of Specialized Excellence (SOSEs). However, 50% of the seats have been reserved for students from the Delhi government. As per the Directorate of Education, Government of Delhi, the candidate should have attained 60% marks in class VIII for admission in class IX in any of these schools. Talking about Performing and Visual Arts schools, if a candidate has participated and received an award in any Art form in a competition at zonal or upward level, the minimum marks may not be required. Moreover, For class XI admission in the STEM schools, an applicant should have attained a minimum of 75% in class X exams.
