Delhi Government: No online classes in a private school during summer vacations

The Delhi government on Wednesday has suspended online classes during summer vacation in private schools from April 20 to June 9. On Monday The Directorate of Education (DoE)  rescheduled the summer vacation because of the deteriorating COVID-19 situation, earlier it was scheduled from May 11 to June 3, but now it has been rescheduled from April 20 to June 9.

The education department was informed that despite the announcement of summer vacation, many private schools are running regular online classes in the name of physical classroom learning without any break, A circular has been issued by the Delhi government to all private schools to this effect.

Morally, the schools can conduct vacation-related specific activities, remedial classes for a specific set of students, and other activities for creativity, happiness, and overall social and emotional wellbeing to enrich the overall growth of the students without calling them to school physically, added in Directorate of Education's statement

In keeping the view for the teachers, it was also said that the teaching staff who have been continuing online mode teaching needed a much-deserved break, Also in keeping view of summer vacation, which was given to break the monotony from studies and pursue new skills and hobbies for students.

The circular also states that “the present circumstances due to Covid-19 and the context explained above, it is all the more important that the intent of summer vacation is realized not just in letter but in spirit too”.
