Delhi govt. declares public holiday from Sept 8-10 over G20 summit

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, supported the request to declare public holidays from September 8–10 in anticipation of the G20 Summit, which would take place in the nation's capital, on August 22.

According to the chief minister's order, all city schools as well as municipal corporations' and the Delhi government's offices will be closed for three days.

"Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar sent the police proposal file to the Delhi chief minister for his approval. It would be sent to the LG for approval following the chief minister's consent, an official informed news agency PTI.

In a letter to the chief secretary dated August 18, Special Police Commissioner Madhup Tiwari of the Delhi Police recommended that the government declare a public holiday from September 8–10 and issue instructions for the closure of businesses, the majority of which were in the New Delhi area, in light of the G20 Summit.
