Delhi Govt. Mandates Gender Sensitisation Training For Public Sector Drivers

Training is mandatory for the cab and Auto Drivers


With an aim to provide safety to women. The Delhi government has mandated gender Sensitisation Training for all the public sector vehicles (PSV) which will include auto-rickshaw drivers, cab drivers, and all.

 

According to the information, the officials said, any fitness certificate would not be issued until the driver goes through this Sensitisation Training program. Drivers including auto-rickshaws and commercial light motor vehicles needed to obtain a certificate of gender Sensitisation program. Also, authentication of the motor vehicle inspectors would not be required.

 

According to the order, it said "It needs to be produced at the time of the fitness test of the vehicle. The training program will be free of cost and valid for two years.

 

The vehicle inspection unit, Burari will ensure no certificate of fitness is granted to any PSV vehicle without submission of requisite (gender Sensitisation Training) certificate by the driver with the immediate effect." It also said, the certificate should not be older than seven days of the fitness test, said the order.

 

The Manas Foundation conducts this Sensitisation Training which is associated with the institutes of Driving and traffic. Research (IDTR) at Sarai kale khan and Loni and the driver training institute (DTI), transport authority, Burari.
