DELHI NCR: AIR POLLUTION MANAGEMENT

LIFT CURBS IMPOSED UNDER GRAP STAGE THREE

On Wednesday, the Commission for Air Quality Management directed authorities to revoke the curbs enforced in Delhi-NCR under stage three of the Graded Response Action Plan with immediate effect.

This means that the ban on all constructions, demolition, and BS-IV petrol and BS-III diesel vehicles will now be removed.

On Wednesday morning the air quality in the national capital region was recorded as “very poor”. Delhi’s overall AQI (air quality index) stood at 323 at 8 am, which was better than 354 at 4 pm on Tuesday.

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) said in an order, in favorable condition the air pollution in Delhi is likely to ameliorate and stay in the ‘poor’ to ‘very poor’ range in the coming days.

To revoke stage three of the GRAP across Delhi-NCR with an immediate effect, the GRAP Sub-committee decided accordingly.

An AQI between 0 and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 and 500 ‘severe’.
