Delhi-NCR wakes up to Rains, Cloudy Skies

Several parts of Delhi-NCR received light rainfall!


On Friday, 07 October 2022, As several parts of the country are witnessing heavy rainfall and flood-like situations, residents of Delhi-NCR woke up to light rainfall accompanied by cloudy skies and chilly winds.

More rainfall is expected to lash the national capital, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Meanwhile, with the IMD predicting a heavy rainfall from Friday onwards, a warning has been issued for several states, including UP, Uttarakhand and HP from this week, October 7 onwards.

Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand are expected to receive intense spells of rainfall for the next three days, with peak intensity on Friday, according to IMD.

In view of these predictions, both states will remain on an orange alert for the next two days. But the advisory for Uttarakhand's eastern half has been upgraded to a red warning for Friday. From Sunday onwards, the alerts in both states will be further downgraded to a yellow watch.

Following a heavy rain warning by the weather department, the Tehri district magistrate issued orders to close all schools from Classes 1 to 12 as well as Anganwadi centres for a day in the district.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath issued directions to handle the situation following the heavy downpour. He directed the district magistrates to ensure effective relief operations.

On Thursday night, Heavy rainfall lashed Tiruvuru town in the NTR district in Andhra Pradesh.
