On Thursday the National Capital witnessed rain showers in few parts of the state the water level in the Yamuna river has increased to 203.37 metres. The warning mark of 204.50 metres after heavy rain in the upper catchment area of the river. According to the statement, the irrigation and flood control departments said " The water level was recorded at 203.37 metres at the old Railway Bridge at 10:30 AM. The flow rate peaked to 1.60 lakh cusecs in the last 24 hours, the highest so far this year." Further, the official also said that "The Yamuna has swollen because of rains and the upper catchment areas, he said more water is being released from the Hathnikund barrage into the river in Haryana's Yamunanagar district.

Meanwhile, an alert has been issued in the low lying areas close to the river floodplains on Tuesday and the situation is being monitored round the clock. Whereas officials also predicted that water levels may rise as there is a prediction of rain in the catchment areas. Meanwhile, The National Capital has also witnessed waterlogging in a few parts of the city which lead to difficulty in travel and transportation.
