Delhi orders BiPAP Ventilator Machines for New ICU Beds

Amid spiraling cases of COVID-19 in Delhi, government acquires BiPAP ventilators


Amid a surge in the count of covid-19 cases in the national capital, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has ordered for an immediate acquisition of 1,200 BiPAP machines for the new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds being added in Delhi this week, A total of 1,200 BiPAP machines will be procured immediately from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), the official said on Tuesday.

On Monday, Health Minister of the National Capital Minister Satyendar Jain in response to the high COVID-19 death rate in the city held pollution responsible for the condition and  said that the graph is expecting to go down in the next two-three weeks.

Meanwhile the city recorded 4,454 fresh cases of COVID-19, a positivity rate of 11.94 per cent on Monday, while 121 more pushed the number of deaths to the disease to 8,512 in the city.

Currently Delhi has 17,300 Covid beds and 1396 ICU with ventilators beds,  2,623 beds are without ventilators and according to the latest updates 122 of the 1396 ICU beds with ventilators and 418 of 2623 ICU beds without ventilators

Many experts feel that the rise in the infection in Delhi is due to the approaching winter and severe air pollution quality in the city. People with respiratory illnesses ,asthma, lungs dysfunction, persistent coughing are easy victims of the infection.
