Alleged Terrorist arrested after 19 years


On Saturday December 5, 2020, Delhi Police arrested an alleged member of the banned Students Islamic movement of India (SIMI) who had been absconding for more than 19 years in a case of sedition an unlawful activity.

The accused has been identified as Abdullah Danish age 58, who hails from Mau district in Uttar Pradesh and has been residing in Aligarh, he was arrested from Delhi's Zakir Nagar.

Police said that the accused is the senior most cadre of SIMI, he indoctrinated many innocent Muslim youth in the last 25 years.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah stated, "Arrested Danish was absconding for more than 19 years in a case of sedition and unlawful activity registered in the year 2001 in Delhi's New Friends Colony Police Station. He was also declared a proclaimed offender in said case in the year 2002 by the the trial court."

The official said, after tracing his whereabouts for so long, the special cell had information about Danish's movement in several cities in Delhi Uttar Pradesh and other neighbouring states.The official also stated, Danish also mobilised Muslim youths against National Register of Citizens (NRC) and Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA)  and encouraged radical ideology to dispute harmony among religious groups. He was falsely propagating atrocities being committed upon Muslims by Government of India by using fake videos. 

A report by PTI says, In 2001, a case was registered against Abdullah Danish when the government had banned SIMI. In Danish's headquarters in Zakir Nagar, many other SIMI activists were arrested, but somehow Danish and other members managed to escape.The police added, "the accused was given a room in SIMI headquarters in Zakir Nagar. After escaping from Delhi, Danish first went to Aligarh and then to Azamgarh. Through the help of Danish, dreaded terrorist Abdus Subhan Qureshi alias Tauqeer was introduced to another terrorist Abu Bashar and Danish motivated them to do something drastic against the government, they later executed a series of blast with the help of their associates in Ahmedabad in 2008." Further proceedings are underway.
