Delhi Police Detain Protesters At Shahidi Park During ‘Chakka Jam’

Protestors detained during ‘chakka jam’ by Delhi police

Several protesters in the Shahidi Park were detained by the Delhi police for agitating against the 3 farm laws as a part of the nationwide ‘chakka jam’ (road block) called by the farm unions. The farmers have been camping for over 70 days now at the various borders of Delhi protesting against the three farm laws introduced by the Center last year. In view of the protest against the farm laws, heavy security has been deployed at the Ghazipur (Delhi-UP) border.

Security forces which include Rapid Action Force (RAF) have been deployed at the Ghazipur borders and at Tikri border drone cameras were deployed today to monitor the law and order situation in the wake of ‘chakka jam’ called by the farmer unions. Near about 50,000 Delhi Police personnel, Paramilitary and Reserve Forces have been deployed to maintain law and order in the Delhi-NCR regions and the police said that 12 metro stations have been put on alert.

The security around Delhi is tightened today with deployment of extra forces, putting up multi layered barricades and barbed wires on roads.
