Delhi Police files another chargesheet in NE-Delhi violence case


The Delhi Police Special Cell filed a supplementary chargesheet before the Karkardooma court on Wednesday in connection with the north-east Delhi violence case which occurred in February last year. The freshly prepared chargesheet reveals the CCTV footage which allegedly prove that the violence which was carried out in Delhi was well planned.

In the case being probed by the Special Cell of Delhi Police the names among the key conspirators are Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam the former student union leaders and Tahir Hussain the ex-AAP councilor. The judicial custody of Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam and others in connection with the violence, arrested in the Unlawful (Activities) Prevention Act was further extended by the Delhi Court on February 16 to March 1.

On February 19 the Delhi Police chief SN Srivastava said that 3 teams have been constituted of the Special Investigative Team (SIT) to probe the north-east Delhi violence 2020. In the violence that occurred in the national capital last year more than 750 cases were registered in which 53 people were killed and several others injured. In the violence related case 250 chargesheets have been filed so far in which 1,153 accused have been chargesheeted
