Delhi's air quality to take a shift towards the "very poor" category

Pollution level to rise in the capital city

On Thursday the air quality of the National Capital is likely to take a shift towards a very poor category.  According to the forecasting monitoring agencies, the quality is likely to deteriorate.

As per the statement given by the system of air and weather forecasting and research (Safar) said the air quality will deteriorate during the day to touch very poor on Thursday and then hit the higher end of the poor category by Friday. Adding more safar also said, "Effective fire count of stubble burning in the north-west region in Delhi is 656 and its share in PM2.5 is 16% as transport-level winds are westerly. Calm local winds combined with highly favourable transport level winds (north north westerly) enhance stubble burning related intrusion. Any increase in fire counts in the next 3 days would increase finer particles level in Delhi.

Central pollution control board data showcases Delhi's air quality to a poor category on Thursday morning with an air quality index (AQI) to 261 at 8 am. Whereas on Wednesday the AQI stood at 232.

The air quality between 0 to 50 is good, 51 to 100 is satisfactory, 101 to 200 is moderate, 201 to 300 is poor, 301 to 400 is very poor and 401 to 500 is severe.

National capital witnesses an incessant rise in its pollution level. With the arrival of winter, Delhi starts getting a choked environment. The major reason behind this is due to stubble burning in nearby states which pollutes the capital city.
