Delhi's Janpath market closed after violating Covid-19 norms.DDMA Said, if the norms of Covid-19 appropriate behaviour are not maintained by any shop, then it will be liable to be closed and its owner may face prosecution under relevant laws.


New Delhi's famous Janpath market local in Connaught place attracts numerous tourists as well as locals for shopping. Its unique collection as well as its cultural ethnicity attracts many to fill their shopping bags.

Meanwhile, this market has been closed till the further order due to violation of Covid-19 norms in the place.According to an order, Delhi Government said that" The Janpath market is hereby closed till further orders for violation of DDMA order and for not following Covid-19 appropriate behaviour norms. The director (enforcement), NDMC and SHO, Connaught place are hereby directed to enforce the order with immediate effect and submit a compliance report."

According to Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), it has directed that all Covid-19 appropriate behaviour including the use of face masks and social distancing should be maintained at all the malls, market complexes, standalone shops and neighbourhood shops. The DDMA also said "if the norms of Covid-19 appropriate behaviour are not maintained by any shop, then it will be liable to be closed and its owner may face prosecution under relevant laws.

Meanwhile, Delhi Markets such as Laxmi Nagar Market, Lajpat Nagar markets, Sarojini Nagar market and parts of Sadar bazaar and Karol bagh were closed due to violation of Covid-19 norms.
