Delhi witnesses a drop in temperature

Air quality "very poor"


The National Capital witnesses a drop in the temperature level in the city. In the morning, a layer of fog settled in the city due to a drop in Temperature.


According to the India meteorological department (IMD), it said "Delhi is likely to experience 'shallow fog' today with the mercury dropping to as low as 8 degrees Celsius. The IMD also said, "The maximum temperature on Friday is likely to hover around 20 degrees Celsius and 9 degrees Celsius respectively. The National capital on Thursday recorded a maximum temperature of 19.8 degrees Celsius, three notches below the normal predicted India meteorological department (IMD).


Not only a drop in Temperature, the Air quality index (AQI) of the National capital is under the poor category. On Friday, the AQI stood at 339 in the morning.


As per the system of air quality and weather forecasting and Research (SAFAR), the concentration of PM 2.5 and PM10 stood at 171 in the very poor category.


The Air quality between 0-50 is considered good, 51-100 is satisfactory, 101-200 is moderate, 201-300 poor, 301-400 very poor and 401-500 is severe.


The Delhi government has implemented several initiatives to curb pollution. Earlier on Monday, after a review meeting, the government has also extended the ban of Non-essential trucks in the capital city.
