Delhi Witnesses Dense Fog

AQI Slips To Very Poor!


The National capital witnesses a fluctuating air quality. On Friday, (January 14) Delhi’s Air Quality Index dropped from the moderate category to the very poor category.


According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), the city reported an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) at 312.


As per the information given by government agencies AQI between zero and 50 is considered `good`, 51 and 100 `satisfactory`, 101 and 200 `moderate`, 201 and 300 `poor`, 301 and 400 `very poor, and 401 and 500 `severe`


On Friday, the National capital notices a thick layer of fog in the morning. The city also witnessed cold winds and foggy situations which created an unclear environment in the city during the early hours of the day.

 

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), visibility dropped to 50 meters at Palam from 4.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. The visibility remained between 50 and 100 meters at Safdarjung from 7 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 5.8 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season's average. The maximum temperature settled at 16.7 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal. Further, IMD predicted, dense to very dense fog over North India during the next 4-5 days.
