Delhi witnesses rise in dengue cases

Calculating from January till October 16, a total of 723 cases have been reported in the national capital which is the highest count since 2018.


The national capital on Monday reported one death due to dengue whereas last week Delhi had reported 243 cases. Calculating from January till October 16, a total of 723 cases have been reported in the national capital which is the highest count since 2018.

Usually, the cases of dengue reach at peak during the monsoon season. However, for the last two to three days the capital city has been witnessing heavy showers and the cases are gradually rising.

Many awareness as well as cleanliness programmes have been implemented by the Delhi Government to prevent the spread of dengue. 

As per the report, this disease has been mostly transmitted to children as maximum patients are kids.

Atishi Marlena, an AAP MLA, said that preventive measures like fogging and door to door checking for breeding of mosquitoes in stagnant water was not started in advance. Targeting the ruling central party BJP over the rising cases of dengue in Delhi, she alleged that Municipal Corporation did not take any preventive measures.

Meanwhile, water logging and contamination of water are common issues in the national capital which are the main causes of this disease.
