Delhi Zoo makes special arrangements for animals to beat the heat

Capital city witnesses scorching heat!

Amid scorching heat, the National capital witnesses a heatwave-like scenario. The temperature levels are changing gradually which is creating a problematic scenario for each and every one including humans as well as animals.

The authorities of the National Zoological Park in Delhi have made special arrangements for animals to beat the heat and stay cool. Sprinklers, ice slabs, and coolers were among the arrangements installed for the animals by the Delhi Zoo authorities.

According to the statement given to ANI news agency, it says, "Delhi Zoo, as everyone knows, is a very old Chidiya Ghar and over the years we have installed many inbuilt systems keeping the heat in mind," Dharmdeo Rai, Indian Forest Service (IFS), said the Director at National Zoological Park.

Further, he said, we have put up an agro net which gives them shade, and the temperature decreases for the animals. Furthermore, there are many trees for the animals. To keep the land wet, we have installed sprinklers and there are small ponds for animals to take baths."

As per the information, there are about 1,100 animals currently in the Delhi zoo and every animal has a different dietary requirement. The summer plans also include changes in diet. The ponds are filled with water, pressure pumps are used for bathing animals, and nets are used on the roofs of cages to prevent the inmates from direct sun rays.

Amid the rising temperature, last week Ahmedabad zoo and Pondicherry Forests Department authorities also said that they have made arrangements to protect animals from heat.
