Delhiites Shivers At 5.4 Degrees

Maximum temperature recorded at 20.4 degrees Celsius


New Delhi: Delhi experiences the minimum temperature of the city settling at 5.4 degrees Celsius, two degrees below the overall season's average.

 

At 8.30 am, the relative humidity was recorded at 95 per cent.

 

In the morning, the air quality of the national capital was "very poor" as the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 389.

 

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered "good", 51 and 100 "satisfactory", 101 and 200 "moderate", 201 and 300 "poor", 301 and 400 very poor, and 401 and 500 "severe".  

 

The weather office has forecast a partly cloudy sky with the maximum temperature likely to be around 21 degrees Celsius.

 

On Sunday, the minimum temperature of Delhi was recorded at 5 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal, while the maximum temperature was 20.4 degrees Celsius, one degree above the season's average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

 

On Sunday the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed that air quality of the national capital was in the "very poor" category with the AQI 398 at 9 am.

 

Meanwhile, the AQI of Delhi's neighboring Faridabad stood at 332, Ghaziabad at 368, Greater Noida at 314 and Noida at 367, all in the "very poor" category.

The IMD has forecast cold to severe cold wave conditions in India till January 3.
