Several states including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Punjab have already announced changes in their board exam dates.
Demand for canceling the CBSE 10th and 12th board exams has intensified amid the increasing pace of Corona infection in the country. However, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has not yet taken any decision in this regard. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday demanded quashing of the examination from the Centre and said that the examination centres can become super speeders. With this, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that when we could not study in the traditional way throughout the year, then why are we insisting on conducting the exam in the old way.
On the increasing demand for cancellation of the exam, Jyoti Arora, a member of the Governing Body of CBSE and the Principal of Mount Abu School, said that the board is in tune with the decision of the central government. The board takes a decision only keeping the interest of all the students in mind. The CBSE has not taken any decision on postponement of the examinations, as the board is taking into consideration both the future and the health of the students. These exams are very important for the future of the students. Meanwhile, a senior CBSE official said, "Board exams cannot be conducted online." Yes, if the situation worsens then it may be decided to postpone the examinations. At present, no decision has been taken. Significantly, the board examinations are starting from May 4.
Due to the deepening crisis of Corona, nearly two lakh students had signed an online petition demanding cancellation of board examinations. Last day Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also requested Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank to cancel the CBSE board exams. The Shiv Sena also wrote a letter to the Ministry of Education demanding a change in the dates of the CBSE board examinations. Many states including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Punjab have already announced changes in their board exam dates.
