Dengue cases cross the 500-mark in Uttarakhand

Rise in Dengue cases…

DEHRADUN: The number of dengue cases in Uttarakhand surpassed 500 on Thursday, as a result of the nonstop rain that flooded low-lying regions and created an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes.

As of Wednesday, the state had 532 dengue cases, of which 475 people had recovered and 56 were active cases.

Since July, Dehradun has had the majority of cases (363), with hotspots including Dharampur, Ajabpur Kala, Race Course, GMS Road Patel Nagar, and Banjarawa. In the previous month, there were more than a dozen cases in these localities.

The state is more susceptible to vector-borne illnesses as a result of the rains.

According to a news release from the health department, almost 8,000 dengue larvae sites were found and cleaned up this week by urban local authorities and frontline health workers.

District Nainital registered 74 instances after the state capital. While this was happening, Haridwar reported 60 incidents, while Pauri reported 32 (mostly in the Rishikesh region). Both of these districts are also struggling with severe water logging in colonies.

Prechand Aggarwal, the minister of urban development, went to the chief minister Dhami in Rishikesh and asked him to label the town "disaster-affected."
